Day 01 : Arrival Madurai

Upon reaching Madurai International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, set out to explore the renowned Meenakshi Amman Temple, situated on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in Madurai. This temple, dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi (an incarnation of Parvati), is celebrated for its impressive Dravidian architecture and serves as a spiritual and cultural landmark of the city.

The temple complex covers approximately 14 acres and features 14 gateway towers, or gopurams, each standing between 45 and 50 meters tall, with the southern tower being the tallest at 51.9 meters (170 feet).

Inside, visitors can admire elaborately carved pillars and mandapams, including the famous Thousand Pillar Hall, as well as vibrant sculptures depicting deities and mythological scenes. Later in the evening, you can witness the nightly ritual where the bronze idol of Lord Shiva is ceremoniously carried to join Goddess Meenakshi in her chamber. After the ceremony, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 02 : Madurai – Chettinadu

After enjoying breakfast, travel to Chettinad and check in at your hotel. In the evening, head out to visit the renowned Ayyanar Temple, often called the Horse Temple. Here, visitors are welcomed by vibrant rows of terracotta horses, which line the entrance of the temple complex. These colorful horse statues are traditional offerings made by villagers to express gratitude for blessings received. Ayyanar, the temple’s presiding deity, is an ancient guardian figure in South Indian tradition and is regarded as a regional form of the Hindu god Shiva. The temple is not only a spiritual center but also a unique cultural landmark, reflecting the deep-rooted customs of the local community. Spend the night at your hotel in Chettinad

Day 03 : Chettinadu

After breakfast, explore Chettinad’s heritage, starting with Soorakudi Temple—one of nine clan temples pivotal to the region’s history. Visit Athangudi’s tile factory to see handmade mosaic-style tiles crafted on glass. Tour the opulent Athangudi Periya Veedu (1907), adorned with stained glass, teak, and wrought iron. In the evening, visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Brihadeeswara Temple, an architectural marvel constructed in the 11th century by the Chola king Raja Raja I. Enter the temple through the Nayak Gate, followed by two original gopurams adorned with detailed stucco sculptures. Inside the complex, you will find several sanctuaries, including a massive statue of Nandi, the sacred bull of Shiva, which is among the largest of its kind in India. Conclude your day by returning to the hotel for an overnight stay.
